Sakela- 281 beneficiaries have taken services from the camp related to disability prevention and rehabilitation conducted in Sakela Rural Municipality of Khotang. Identity cards have been distributed to 179 people with disabilities through a camp organized for the purpose of identifying and distributing identity cards to people with disabilities.
The camp was started from the 17th of May last year for the updating of the beneficiaries who have received identity cards and for the identification of new beneficiaries. Under which 115 people have received disability identity cards as new beneficiaries, while copies have been issued to 179 old people. Targeting the beneficiaries of all the wards of the municipality, the camp was organized at their convenient location.
Under the camp, 39 new beneficiaries in Ward No. 1 Banjechandanda, 23 new beneficiaries in Ward No. 2 Ratancha, 18 new beneficiaries in Ward No. 3 Khidima, 20 new beneficiaries in Ward No. 4 Mattim and 15 new beneficiaries in Ward No. 5 were listed as new beneficiaries. have received Under which the number of persons with disabilities who will receive a red card of category (A) within the rural municipality is 29. (B) The number of blue card holders of the category is 64 people. Similarly, it is said that the number of people with disabilities who received yellow cards were 43, while the number of people who received white cards were 41 in total while The government has been providing social security allowance only to persons with disabilities (A) and (B) who have received red and blue cards. Red card beneficiaries have been receiving monthly social security allowance of Rs 3,990 and blue card beneficiaries have been receiving Rs 2,128 per month.
The disability prevention and rehabilitation camp has been conducted in all five wards of Sakela Rural Municipality with the tripartite cost sharing of the Ministry of Social Development, Koshi Province, Sakela Rural Municipality and Karuna Foundation. Sakela Rural Municipality Chairman Ravi Prakash Rai said that more programs will be expanded on behalf of the rural municipality for people with disabilities and their families. Provincial Government, Ministry of Social Development, Koshi Province, Biratnagar Nepal and Karuna Foundation Nepal with 35/35% investment and Sakela Rural Municipality 30% investment related to disability prevention and rehabilitation program is being conducted in Sakela Rural Municipality.
