Sakela- Sakela Rural Municipality has started a campaign in every village and school to control the epidemic of dengue and eye diseases, urging all citizens to be vigilant.
In an emergency meeting at the municipality level held recently on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, the head of the village Ravi Prakash Rai has instructed the health institutions and health workers to manage the immediate collection of health materials needed for epidemic control. President Rai has instructed to take special precautions as the major health problems at present are dengue and eye diseases.
The meeting chaired by village chief Rai has decided to mobilize the ward government, toll development improvement committee, women’s health volunteers, mothers’ groups, health workers, teachers, village leaders and political leaders to control the epidemic of both diseases. Similarly, the meeting has decided to conduct orientation related to dengue disease and eye disease, to manage and store necessary medicines, to publish a video for general public awareness.
Similarly, Health Branch Coordinator Rita Dhakal said that a decision has been passed to ensure that all community schools run in the municipality will operate regularly without any disruption to teaching and if infected students will be kept at home for treatment. According to health workers, this disease is more common during the rainy season. Health experts say that dengue disease usually spreads at a temperature of 22 to 34 degrees.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to hold emergency meetings in all ward offices and health institutions of the municipality on Saturday to prevent dengue and eye diseases. Sunday ward no. Kamal Prasad Phuyal, Head of Health Chowki Khidima, informed that students of class 8, 9 and 10 studying at Siddeshwari Secondary School in Khidima have been provided with awareness-based health education about dengue and eye diseases.
If there is any suspicion of dengue disease and eye disease spreading like an epidemic, the village council has called to contact the nearest health institutions and health workers immediately.
