SONI RAI, Sakela – Sakela Rural Municipality has sponsored four days of women leadership training to selected women delegates from several wards. “SHE-LEADS” woman leadership training was provided to local level women representatives from the third to the fourth phase under the influence of CDWN. The training wrapped up with the presence of MRS Durga Jayanti Rai as the chairman of the conducted program, whereas Representatives of Sakela Mayor MR Rabi Prakash Rai as the Distinguished Guest and MS Brisika Rai as the Special Guest. The program commenced on Monday, Ashad-08, and ended on Thursday, Ashad-11.
While making a statement at the program’s conclusion, Chief MR Rabi Prakash Rai thanked the entire program team and stated, “SHE LEADS” women leadership program conduction has bought a leadership quality to the women representatives of Sakela the program has helped the women to bring a women empowerment and political changes to their acts and work attitude.
He expressed his high hopes for the trained women representatives, who currently hold specific positions in local government, that they would speak truthfully and give justice to the work they have done for the community. He noted that the program’s energy had a positive effect on them, and that it had also strengthened their resolve and leadership abilities.
The program is run not only in Sakela but in every rural and urban municipality in Khotang, including Diprung, aiselukhraka, khotehang, and janteydhunga. Durga Jayanti Rai and laxmi kumar rai naturalized the project. Indu Kala Rai, the program coordinator, and Bikash Sunuwar, the field mobilizer, were also present when the program was conducted. The project was carried out in several phases, with the fourth phase being carried out throughout the entire khotang district after the third phase was finished.
The project “SHE LEADS” is carried out with the financial support of the Swiss government SDC, Australian Aid, and IFI’s technical assistance. Additionally, they are trained for a variety of jobs like defending gender equality, communicating for the experience of their work, and lending a helping hand to their subordinates. This training has made the women aware of equality and their moral values in the society for all the children and women. After the program is over, it is expected that the representative women will act morally and with integrity in the political arena.
In the first module, women representatives learned about the importance of women’s representation, their strategies for boosting self-confidence, the values of local level work, political values, and the worth of having women present in the room when choices about politics are being made. While the introduction to unity in the workplace, local level workings’ implementation and procedures, budget procedures, and meeting management was made in the second module, the introduction to self-empowerment, local level workings’ methods for fact-gathering, arrangements for current works, developments, and many other infrastructure-related aspects of empowerment was made in the third module.
